Frequently Asked Questions
Can children/minors visit the winery?
Yes! Children and young people under 21 are welcome at the winery. We are considered a “family activity,” so we don’t fall under the same laws as bars. Minors are fine anywhere at the winery - just not at the tasting bar.
Do I need my ID at the winery?
Yes, our tasting bar attendants are required to ask for IDs.
Do you have anything to drink other than wine?
Yes! We have an extensive assortment of beers, sodas, iced tea and coffee.
Do you offer gluten free options?
If you follow a gluten-free diet you will LOVE Anderson’s! We have gluten-free flatbreads, crackers, bread and pretzels. In addition, our kitchen staff is very knowledgeable about gluten-free diets and can help if you are not certain about something. They are also very mindful of cross-contamination issues and safe kitchen practices for gluten free.
Does the winery host special events?
Yes! We host showers, business events, charity events, birthday parties, anniversary parties, weddings, you name it! We do limit our events during our open hours to 60 guests and events outside of our regular hours to 100 guests. We book events up to six months out. All of the food and beverages are provided by the winery. If you want further info, please email info@andersonswinery.com.
What is the International Collection?
This is a carefully-curated list of wines from all over the world that we are providing for your enjoyment. These are wines that are not normally available to the general public. They are delicious, well-made wines that are a great bargain.
Who are those kitties that hang around there?
Our big, beautiful ginger boy is Corky. He is about 5 years old. Corky showed up one day in May of 2020 as a tiny kitten and has been at the winery ever since. He loves little kids and playing tag with them! He also enjoys providing free entertainment in the garden - catching small critters and flipping them around in the air!
Our more diminutive but chubby little girl tabby is Charlee. She is also nearly 5 and showed up as a tiny kitten in October of 2020. She is a lover! She thrives on attention and loves to hang out in front of the wood stove. Charlee doesn’t go outside - she’s hawk bait!
Together, our kitties primary function is “Chief Rodent Control Officers” as well as being ambassadors and welcome committee for the winery.
Do you provide tours of the winery?
We don’t offer tours of our winemaking area. However, you are welcome to walk around our 43 acres of property. Please be careful around the pond, there’s a lot of poison ivy out there!
What happened to your grapevines?
The prior owner rented the property that wasn’t under vine to a farmer who grew corn there. He sprayed the corn with Roundup, which killed the majority of our vines. Unfortunately, the vines would need to be completely removed and replanted, which is a huge undertaking. We have been concentrating on the building and garden, so the vines are on the back burner.
Where does your wine come from?
We purchase juice from a number of places: Napa, Washington, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, etc. Juice is not nearly as messy as pressing grapes, and there is a lot less loss.
Do you offer live music?
We offer live music every Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5pm all year round! We have a wide variety of music styles, as well as occasional bands and small ensembles. There is no charge for the afternoon music. We love it when you come in hungry and thirsty, though!!
